Computer Recycling

Computer recycling with WMG Waste eRecycling covers desktop PCs, all-in-ones and workstations from offices of any size. We collect the machines, wipe or destroy every internal drive, resell what still has a market and send the rest to WEEELABEX certified recycling. You get paperwork for each step, and most standard corporate pickups in the Netherlands are free.

Why can’t old desktop PCs go out with general waste?

A desktop tower looks like a simple metal box, but it holds a mix of materials that need separate treatment. Circuit boards contain copper, gold and other metals worth recovering. Power supplies contain capacitors, and a small coin cell battery sits on almost every motherboard. All-in-ones add a display panel to that mix. Under the EU WEEE Directive, electrical equipment has to be collected separately and processed properly, never thrown in with residual waste.

The bigger business risk is the drive. A PC that was used for payroll, CAD drawings or customer records still holds that data after files are deleted or the disk is formatted. Under the GDPR, your organization stays responsible for that data until it is properly erased.

What happens to your computers after we collect them?

  • Quote. Tell us roughly how many machines you have and where they are. We reply within 24 hours.
  • Pickup. Standard collections take place within 3 to 5 business days, urgent ones within 24 to 48 hours depending on location. You sign off an itemized receipt.
  • Tracking. Each computer is logged by serial number and followed until final processing.
  • Data handling. Drives are wiped with NIST 800-88 compliant methods, or shredded or crushed where wiping is not suitable. This can happen on-site at your office or off-site.
  • Reuse or recycling. Machines with resale value are refurbished and sold. Everything else goes to WEEELABEX certified recycling, where we recover up to 95% of materials.

Are newer business workstations worth anything?

Often, yes. Business desktops and high-spec workstations from a recent refresh cycle can still sell well once they are wiped and tested. The proceeds from any resale are returned to you, so an office clear-out can offset part of its own cost. Which documents do you receive afterwards?

After collection you get the itemized receipt. Once the drives are handled, you receive a certificate of data destruction for every device, logged by serial number. When processing is complete, a recycling report closes the file. Together these documents support GDPR and WEEE compliance audits, so you can show exactly where each machine ended up.
