Buyback of printers covers business laser printers and office multifunction devices that still have a market after you replace them. WMG Waste eRecycling values your printers, wipes or destroys any internal storage with a certificate, resells the machines that refurbished buyers want and returns the proceeds to you. Printers without resale value are recycled in the same collection.
Which printers still have resale value?
Business-grade multifunction devices and laser printers are the most likely candidates. Small desktop inkjets rarely have resale value and usually go straight to recycling. For the rest, value depends on:
- Type: multifunction device, single-function laser printer or wide-format model
- Model and age: current business ranges with available parts and consumables are easier to place
- Page count: the meter reading shows how much life the machine has left
- Condition and completeness: paper trays, finishers and stands add value, missing or damaged parts reduce it
- Quantity and demand: several units of one model, and current demand for refurbished office hardware, both help
What should you send us for a valuation?
A rough list is enough. Note the make and model, how many units you have, the approximate age or page count if the display shows it, and any extras such as additional trays or finishers. A line on condition helps: “working, removed from service last month” tells us more than no note at all. We reply to quote requests within 24 hours.
Also tell us where the machines are and whether they are on upper floors, since larger multifunction devices are heavy and need planning to move.
Do printers really store data?
Many do. Multifunction devices often have an internal hard drive or flash memory that holds scanned documents, print jobs, fax logs and address books with names and email addresses. A printer that leaves your office with that storage intact is a data risk, just like a laptop.
Before any printer is resold, its storage is wiped with NIST 800-88 compliant methods or physically destroyed, and you receive a certificate of data destruction logged by serial number. Our data destruction page explains the options.
Printers that are worn out, faulty or not worth reselling go through WEEELABEX certified recycling in the same pickup, where we recover up to 95% of materials. See printer recycling for more.
Replacing your office printers? Send us a list of the old ones and we will tell you what can be resold.
